March 29, 2021:
Unfortunately, at 10:56AM, the Distemper Clinic informed the team that Sonny had passed away.
He was already experiencing a decrease in appetite, labored breathing and collapsed a few hours before. He was on life support and the clinic still tried to revive him. But his body could no longer take it.
We rescued Sonny, despite being overwhelmed with numerous new rescues both from the pound and the streets. Unfortunately upon being brought to the vet, aside from having infections and a skin problem, we found out that Sonny is positive for Distemper. As most of you know, Distemper is highly contagious. We are unable to rehabilitate Distemper cases at the shelter since we still do not have a proper isolation area.
If we are unable to find a foster home for Sonny, we have no other choice but to keep him confined in the Distemper Clinic, and boarding fees in special clinics cost too much more than we can afford. 😔 Please also note that we have other rescues still undergoing rehabilitation, and Sonny is but just one case.
Sonny has been eating well and his prognosis is looking good! We are still hoping someone steps up to foster Sonny. He would really benefit and recover faster if placed with a supportive and loving family. There really is not much needed for this little guy, aside from a proper isolation area, daily meds, and an abundance of TLC!
Please help us give Sonny and our other rescues the best fighting chance so they can live a joyous life like our dear Don Charlie, Buddy, Chance, and all our other regular rescues. 🙏
