My Story:
Joey is deeply loved by his owner, Kuya Bok, and by most of their neighbours. They say he is a sweet and good-natured dog, and a handful of people had grown very fond of him in the community. When his owner is not around due to having to balance two jobs to provide for his family, their neighbours are there to look after Joey.
Joey was just minding his own business when suddenly someone decided to hack him from behind with a sharp object. He was in a secluded area when this happened.
One of Joey’s fur siblings, Luz (now Henry), dragged him out where people could see them. He was immediately brought to the vet where they patched him up.
Update as of February 19, 2021:
Joey has finally been discharged from the vet the day before. He is still taking medications and would need some time and physical therapy to walk normally again. He remains to be traumatized from what happened (who wouldn’t be?) and appears to be scared even after arriving home. Let’s continue hoping that Joey soon realizes he’s loved by so many, and that Kuya Bok, along with the Pawssion Project Team will try our best to ensure no harm comes his way ever again.
Update as of February 28, 2021:
Unfortunately Joey had to be brought back to the vet due to complications. Long story short, Joey’s trauma caused some nerve damage that led to paraphimosis (inability to retract penis). It being super uncomfortable and all, led to self-inflicted trauma (in this case, gnawing) causing inflammation and necrosis of the posterior part of his penis. We had Joey sent to Animal Wonders right away, where Doc Chua and Doc Anju first decided they’ll do a penis removal. However, seeing there’s still some blood circulation down there, and appearing that the necrotic areas are just superficial which may slough off on its own, they reverted back to keeping him on antibiotics and anti-inflammatories for the time being instead. Joey is currently still at the vet at this time.
